Founded in 1989 by Adriano Berengo in Murano, Berengo Studio is one of the world’s most innovative glassworks, known for combining the millennia-old tradition of Venetian glassmaking with contemporary art . The studio’s mission is to transform glass into a medium for modern sculpture, inviting international artists who don’t usually work with this material to collaborate with local glass masters . Over thirtyfive years, it has hosted over 300 world-renowned creatives, including Ai Weiwei, Tony Cragg, Jaume Plensa and many others. In 2009, Berengo launched Glasstress, a prestigious traveling exhibition that regularly debuts as a collateral event of the Venice Biennale, bringing the studio’s works to museums around the world . Today, the studio also includes the Berengo Foundation, dedicated to the preservation of this art form through exhibitions hosted in a charming converted 18th-century pharmacy and an old industrial glass factory in Murano.
